Baseboard & Trim Installation in Toronto & the GTA

Baseboard jobs usually show up after something else: new laminate went in and the installer left a gap at every wall, the dog chewed a corner, or the old builder-grade trim is dented, painted-over and coming loose. You can see the problem the moment you walk in the room, and quarter round from the hardware store never quite hides it.

Doing baseboard replacement properly means more than cutting boards to length. Inside corners get coped, not mitred, because GTA walls are rarely square and a mitred inside corner opens up within a season. Outside corners are test-fit before they are nailed. Boards are fastened into studs or bottom plate, joints on long runs are scarfed on an angle, and every nail hole and corner gets filled and sanded so the painter has nothing to fix. Where floors dip, the board is scribed to follow them or shoe moulding closes the gap.

• Old trim removal — baseboard glued and painted to the wall for decades comes off slowly and can pull drywall paper with it
• Furniture and access — empty rooms go fast; working around a full living room adds handling time
• Painting — pre-primed stock still needs filling, caulking and a finish coat if you want it done to a paint-ready standard
