Trim carpentry is what separates a finished GTA home from an almost-finished one: baseboards chewed up by the dog or the last flooring job, casing dented at every doorway, a closet with one wire shelf serving a family of four, a wobbly banister, and the feature wall from a saved photo that never got built. Out-of-square walls — standard issue in both century homes and new builds — are why the mitres never close for the do-it-yourselfer.

We cope inside corners instead of relying on mitres that open with the seasons, scribe to walls that are not straight, and fill and caulk so joints stay tight after painting.
