Paint Touch-Ups in Toronto & the GTA

Every lived-in home collects the same catalogue of marks: scuffs along the hallway where bags brush the wall, chips at door corners, crayon behind the couch, filled nail holes that were never repainted, and the black line the bike handlebar left in the entry. None of it justifies repainting the house β€” it justifies an afternoon of careful touch up painting, which is a service most painting companies won't come out for. We will.

The craft in a touch-up is blending, not covering. Paint applied years apart differs in sheen even when the colour matches, so a blob of fresh paint in the middle of a wall can look worse than the scuff it hid. We start by cleaning the mark β€” many scuffs wipe off entirely and need no paint at all β€” then fill and sand any dings, spot-prime, and feather the paint out from the repair with a nearly-dry roller so the edges disappear. When the original paint is too aged to blend, the honest fix is painting that wall corner to corner, and we'll say so rather than leave you with patchwork.

For a quote, walk through your home and photograph each mark, then send the batch with a note on which rooms they're in and whether you have the original paint cans. Landlords and tenants doing move-out painting: send the inspection list or your own walkthrough photos and we'll price making the unit handover-ready in one visit.

What this covers

  • Scuff repair and mark cleaning on walls, doors and trim
  • Filling and painting nail holes and picture-hanger holes
  • Chip and dent touch-ups on door edges, casings and baseboards
  • Feathered blending so small paint jobs vanish into the wall
  • Colour matching from your paint cans, chips or a cut sample
  • Move-out painting for tenants and turnover repairs for landlords
  • Touch-ups after furniture moves, deliveries and renovations
  • Stain spot-sealing so marks don't bleed back through
  • Single-wall repaints where blending won't hide the difference

What affects the price

  • Whether original paint is available β€” a labelled can in the basement makes blending fast; without it, we colour-match, which adds a step and slight risk on aged walls
  • Age and sheen of the existing paint β€” fresh eggshell blends invisibly, while ten-year-old flat that's faded may push a spot repair into a full-wall coat
  • Number and spread of marks β€” twenty touch-ups in one hallway is efficient; five marks in five rooms across three floors means more setup and drying stations
  • Depth of damage β€” surface scuffs need paint only, but gouges and chips need filler, sanding and primer before colour
  • Trim and door repairs β€” enamel touch-ups on woodwork require different products and longer dry times than wall paint
  • Deadlines β€” move-out and listing dates are common drivers; tell us the date and we'll plan the visit so everything is dry and done before it

Every home is different, so we don’t publish flat prices β€” the quote is free and based on your actual job.

Common questions

Will touch-ups actually be invisible, or will I see patches?
It depends almost entirely on the age of the existing paint. Same paint, applied within a couple of years of the original, feathered on properly β€” invisible. Older or sun-faded walls hold the colour but not the sheen, and fresh paint can show as shiny or dull spots at an angle. We assess each wall honestly and tell you which marks will blend and which walls would look better with a corner-to-corner coat.
I don't have the original paint. Can you still match the colour?
Usually, yes. Paint stores can scan a chip the size of a loonie cut from an inconspicuous spot, or match from a switch-plate-sized sample. The match is typically excellent on colour, though aged walls may still show a sheen difference. If you know the builder or a previous owner left records, even a brand and colour name narrows it instantly.
Is it worth hiring someone just for touch-ups?
For a handful of marks you can reach and match, doing it yourself is reasonable. People call us when the list has grown past a quick fix β€” multiple rooms, damage that needs filler and primer, colour matching without the original cans, or a hard deadline like a move-out inspection or photo day for a listing. One visit with the right materials beats four weekends of trial and error.
Can you handle the painting list from my move-out inspection?
Yes β€” tenant turnover work is a steady part of our week. Send the landlord's list or your own photos and we'll quote returning the walls to handover condition: holes filled, scuffs gone, marks painted out. For landlords, we do the same between tenants, often bundled with small repairs like door adjustments and hardware swaps so the unit is ready in a single visit.
Some marks won't wash off no matter what I try. Now what?
Stop scrubbing β€” aggressive cleaning burnishes flat paint and leaves a shiny patch that's harder to hide than the mark. Crayon, marker, rust and water stains need a stain-blocking primer before paint or they bleed straight back through. We identify the stain type, seal it with the right product, then colour over it so it's gone for good.
