Screens take a beating in the GTA: a dog leans through the patio screen door, a hailstorm punches holes in the mesh, or ten winters of UV just make the fibreglass brittle enough to tear at a touch. Then mosquito season arrives and every damaged screen in the house suddenly matters. Torn mesh is the visible problem; bent frames, missing spline and worn rollers are usually hiding behind it.

Proper screen replacement is more than stretching new mesh over an old frame. We check the frame for straightness first — a bent rail will never hold mesh taut — then strip the old spline, cut new fibreglass or aluminum mesh with proper overhang, and roll fresh spline so the mesh sits drum-tight without bowing the frame. On a sliding patio screen door, the real fix is usually the rollers and track alignment, not the mesh: new wheels, a cleaned and straightened track, and tension adjustment so it glides instead of derailing.
