Power Washing in Toronto & the GTA

The mistake with pressure washing isn't too little power — it's too much. Etched wand lines in concrete, furred-up deck boards and water driven behind siding all come from the same place: one machine, one nozzle, every surface. Rental units make it worse because the temptation is to stand closer until something visibly happens.

Doing it right means matching the method to the material. Driveways and walkways get a surface-cleaner attachment — the spinning bar under a hood — which cleans evenly instead of leaving stripes. Siding gets a soft wash: low pressure with the right cleaner doing the work, sprayed along or downward so water never gets driven up behind the laps. Wood decks and fences get low pressure and a wide fan ahead of staining, because blasting wood raises the grain and undoes the surface you're trying to save. Stains get treated before water ever hits them — degreaser on oil, cleaner dwell time on algae — and plants get rinsed and shielded, not sacrificed.

What affects the price

  • Total area — a double driveway and a walkway is a different visit than driveway, patio, deck and both sides of a fence
  • Surface types — each material means its own pressure, nozzle and technique, so variety adds setup and care time
  • Staining severity — oil, rust and years of algae need pre-treatment and dwell time that plain dirt doesn't
  • Water supply — a good outdoor tap keeps the machine fed; poor flow slows everything down
  • Interlock joints — pressure washing lifts joint sand, so re-sanding (and whether you want polymeric sand) is part of the real scope
  • Delicate neighbours — old mortar, painted wood trim, window seals and gardens all slow the pace where the wand has to be careful

Common questions

Will power washing damage my interlock or concrete?
Done wrong, yes — high pressure at close range etches concrete and blasts the sand out of interlock joints, which is why driveways washed with a bare wand show permanent stripes. We use a surface cleaner for flat work, which spreads the pressure and cleans evenly, and we keep pressure appropriate for the surface age. Interlock always loses some joint sand in a proper wash, so we top the joints back up afterward rather than leaving them empty for weeds.
Can you pressure wash siding without forcing water inside?
Yes, because siding isn't really pressure washed at all — it's soft washed. The cleaner does the work at low pressure, applied along or slightly downward, never blasted upward under the laps where water can reach sheathing and insulation. Vinyl and aluminum come up well this way, and the green film on shaded north walls responds to the detergent, not the force. Anyone quoting to 'blast' your siding is quoting damage.
Do you wash decks before staining them?
Yes — deck washing is the standard first step of our deck staining work and can be booked on its own too. Wood gets a proper cleaner, modest pressure and a wide fan tip, enough to lift grey fibres and grime without furring the grain. The critical part is what happens after: the deck needs days of drying before any stain goes on, so we schedule washing and staining as separate visits with weather in between.
Do I need to do anything before you arrive?
Just a few minutes of prep: move cars off the driveway, clear pots and furniture from the surfaces being cleaned, close all windows and exterior doors snugly, and make sure the outdoor tap works. If pets use the yard, keep them inside during the visit. We handle covering delicate plantings near the work and we coil up in a tidy state — you don't need to be home for most exterior jobs.
Can you get oil stains out of a driveway?
We can improve them dramatically — degreaser, dwell time and hot passes lift most of what a leaky car leaves behind — but deep, old oil soaks into concrete and may leave a shadow no honest contractor promises to erase. Fresh stains come out far better than ones that have baked in for years. We'll tell you from your photo roughly what result to expect, and the rest of the driveway coming up clean makes even a faint shadow far less noticeable.
