Most mounting jobs in Toronto homes are harder than the box suggests. Condo walls are often concrete or steel stud, older houses in the east end hide lath and plaster behind the paint, and new builds put studs anywhere but where you need them. A TV over a fireplace, a gallery wall up the stairs, a heavy mirror in the hall — each one fails in its own way if the anchor does not match the wall.

We find what is actually behind the drywall before a single hole goes in, then use the fastener rated for that wall and that weight. TVs get lag-bolted into studs or properly anchored into concrete, shelves come out level with a spirit level rather than a guess, and blinds and curtain rods go up square to the frame.
